Holistic Therapy Tips To Feel Pretty And To Increase Your Self Confidence
Today’s blog post is all about how you can feel more confident and achieve that self assured feelings that many of us crave. Many of my clients have a good sense of self however there are times where self doubt creeps in or they experience imposter syndrome. If you haven’t already I suggest watching my self doubt and imposter syndrome workshop. In there I share my top 10 tools to create a healthier relationship with yourself and how to recalibrate away from self doubt when it appears in your life.
Consider what makes you feel good
I would first encourage you to try and see what it is that truly makes you feel confident. For myself those times are when I wear nice outfits or do my hair in a certain style. I tend to feel better after doing these things because I have dedicated time to myself and I am able to present myself how I prefer. Consider what is the way that you like to present yourself and the way that you will feel a higher level of confidence. When I have taken time to implement the things that make me feel more confident I feel like I’m reflecting my truest self.
Think and speak positive thoughts
Another thing that increases your self confidence is thinking about yourself in a positive light. I was having a conversation with a client the other day and we were speaking about how Beyoncé is a vibe and many of us view her as a woman who can do many great things however we need to view ourselves in the same light. Ideally we want to be our biggest cheerleader and should be the ones saying positive affirmations about ourselves. The best way to do this is to practice as much as you can. Every opportunity you get you should try repeating kind words and thoughts to yourself. We all need a reminder that we are all great in our own ways. Beyoncé is slaying in her lane, but so are you.
Take stock of your circle
If we want to be someone who is confident in themselves then we need to be surrounding ourselves with people who are holding space for us to do that. If you find that you have people in your life that are putting you down, slighting you or telling you that you aren’t that great, etc then you need to remove those people from your life. If they happen to be loved ones you can still set boundaries and step back from them. People telling you that you aren’t enough adds to the negative belief system you may have playing in your head and that is doing nothing but holding you back. There are two ways to approach these types of situations. The first one is having a genuine heart to heart conversation with that individual. Let it be known that you are not going to be accepting their behavior anymore. Also let them know that if the behavior continues you will not be in touch with them as regularly as you are now because it is not helpful or healthy to interact with them. If you’d like to go this route I highly recommend checking out my new book Boundaries and Balance: How To Say No and Still Be Likeable. It’s jam packed with all types of tips, tricks and processes to set boundaries with people in your life. The second action you can take would be to step back from the individual all together. You don’t need to be responding to any communication from them, spending time with them or anything else that puts you in a negative situation. Ultimately, you are responsible for how you feel and responsible for your own happiness. Eliminating interference by removing people from your life who make you feel less than or don’t support you will help you stay on track with positive emotions.
It’s not my place or anyone else's to judge other individuals' relationships with others however these are just some tips and tricks that may be useful if you’re experiencing struggles with confidence and self worth.
