Today's blog post is all about holistic therapy tips for moms. I’ve been noticing in my clients who are moms as well as personally that there are typically two mom modes. The first one is that you are on fire as a mom, taking care of your kids, your household, partner and whatever else needs attending. There is also the aspect of personal responsibilities like career and homeschool. These tips will help you be the best guardian to everyone who needs you.
Prioritize yourself
Make a point to carve out time for yourself where you only need to worry about you. You can only operate for so long effectively in mom mode or career mode without giving yourself some breathing room. I have personally noticed this in myself as a business owner, mom and wife. We need to remember there is value in taking time for ourselves. Ideally you should have some time everyday that’s just for you where you don’t need to worry about work or family priorities. During this time you can choose to do whatever will fill your cup at the moment. It could be meditation, exercise or just sitting in a peaceful spot and catching your breath.
Prioritize the basics
We all want to be one of those people that has the ability to do it all however we need to remember there is value in drinking enough water, eating a balanced meal and getting enough rest. These activities ideally should be nonnegotiable and you should look to other areas for things that are ideal if they get done but are not necessities. Tune in to which things in your life are pertinent so you can find time to do the things that refuel and recharge you. Determining your priorities will help you continue to be the best caretaker to loved ones, the best career women you can be and just generally the best you possible.
Self assess
As often as possible throughout the day you should be asking yourself what it is that you need at the moment. Determine the things that will be the most helpful for you. Create a process around self assessment on a regular basis so you can stay tapped in to what it is you need to be your best. If we are continuously operating at full speed we are missing some important data for us to live our best lives. Always functioning on high will lead to higher chance of burnout as well. Checking in with ourselves gives us the opportunity to be more forthcoming and more productive. It also allows for greater self care and takes care of our inner and outer self needs.
To summarize the point that we covered: make sure to make yourself a priority even amongst the many hats you may be juggling, prioritize your basic needs like water and nutrition for your best health and wellness & finally create a self assessment process so you always know where you stand with yourself and your health. Following these tips will help you thrive as a busy mom or caretaker. These will help you enhance your wellness journey.
